There are so many things you can learn from people who lived in a different generation than you, and so much you can teach them as well! Spend some time with someone who is older than you- a grandparent or even your parent. Ask them questions about what life was like when they grew up. Ask them how they feel about the differences between now and when they grew up. Ask them if there is anything you can do to help them. Some ideas would be to teach them how to use some of the technology available now, help them with a project they've been wanting to do but didn't have time, etc. Just spend some quality time learning from each other and building a bridge of understanding.
Work with mom and dad to plan an outing to an assisted living center and visit with one of the residents there. You could even share your talent, like singing them a song or doing a dance for them. They will LOVE that!
For the SUPERAchiever level plan and organize an outing to a local assisted living center. You can put on a talent show, you can drop off a card and treat you have made, you can just drop by and visit~ whatever works for you. You could even go above and beyond and make this a monthly event and really get to know the senior citizens you are visiting and develop an ongoing friendship with them.
