Pantry Packs & Book Drives

Family Adventure

This is a great time for a Summer of Service!

The United Way of Northern Utah is all about uniting people and organizations to build a healthy, stable, and well-educated community where individuals, families, and neighborhoods thrive. You can join them this summer by choosing one service project that you want to be a part of. Here are a couple of options for you to choose from:

  • Donate food for the ‘pantry packs’ that help students right here in our community (can be combined with the Box Elder Community Food Pantry Adventure). You may want to set a donation box in your kitchen and each time you grab a ’snack’ for yourself, you could also put one in the donation box to be given to someone else. However, you choose to do it, when it’s time to deliver the donation please take your items to the local food pantry located at 272 N 200 W, Brigham City.

  • Donate a book for the book drive. Do you have some books you have outgrown that you would like to pass along to help another child? Go through your books and choose a book or two to be donated to help other children. We will announce in the group when and where these books can be dropped off, so stay tuned to your local group!

You can also leverage your efforts by combining this Adventure with the Super Service Challenge Adventure and help raise funding for the United Way without spending a dime! Check the Super Service Challenge Adventure for details.

Community Engagement Adventure

Ready to take this adventure to the next level?

Here are some steps to get you started:

  • Determine the project, the timeframe with a specific start date and end date, the drop-off location, and a delivery date
  • Design a flyer, email, or some type of notice that can be distributed to your neighbors, family or both.
  • Distribute the flyers with a smile and an explanation of what the project is for, and how it will be serving kids who are in a tough place.
  • Gather the donations and deliver them.
  • Be sure to take a few minutes to enjoy the awesome feeling you get when you help others.
  • Now be sure to share that feeling of having made a positive difference by delivering a ‘Thank You’ to those who donated. It can be verbal, a printed homemade card, or even an email. The important things is to let those that participated experience and enjoy the difference they made.

Again- be sure to leverage your efforts by creating a video for the Super Service Challenge!

Teen Adventure

As a teen you are in a unique position to be able to influence younger kids. They look up to you! They idolize you! They want to copy you in everything you say and do!

This is a great opportunity to teach a younger sibling, niece or nephew, or any younger child in your life the awesomeness of serving. Help them complete the basic level of this Adventure. Then assist them, and join them, as they complete the ‘Super Achiever’ level and organize their own service project.

The most important part of this Teen Adventure is for you to model the positive behavior of serving others and contributing in your community. Make whatever adjustments to the adventure you need to, but keep it fun, take time to enjoy the rewarding feeling you get from this adventure, and use it to CREATE and CAPTURE Memories with those younger kids who absolutely adore you!
