Family Music/Drum Night!

Event

It's time for a FAMILY MUSIC/DRUM NIGHT!!

Bring your whole family on July 8th from 6:30-8pm! We will have fun activity centers for children, and a drum circle for all ages, including teens and adults.

You will have an opportunity to try your hand at drumming, learn about the valuable benefits of music and drumming, and all for FREE!  We will have additional Family Drum Nights throughout the summer, but this specific date is our My Discovery Destination! Adventure, so it's 100% FREE!  Come find the beat with us!

NOTE: Location will announced to those that RSVP. Please RSVP HERE:

Family Adventure

For this Adventure you will be making your own homemade drum and then holding you very own family drum night!

There are so many different ways that you can do this. Here are just a few ideas:

  • Want a drum that is pretty much already done? Find an empty ice cream bucket for your lap, or bigger plastic bucket for a drum set set-up. You could even use an empty oatmeal box or some other type of cardboard container. Whatever you choose, be sure to decorate the outside with your own personal flair!
  • Have a parent build you a square frame out of wood (about 9-12" on each side), decorate it to express YOU, and then wrap it with packing tape as tight as you can!
  • Find a round cylinder and stretch a piece of leather across the top, or another type of material that produces sound if struck when pulled tight
  • how about an old wood stump? That would make a good drum
  • Put 2 paper bowls together, rims together, and secure. You've got a drum!

These are just a couple of ideas to get you going. What ideas do you have for a drum?

Once you have completed your drums pick a date and time and get some drumming of your own going!

Pre-K Adventure

This is the perfect time for our youngest Adventurers to explore rythym and beat, along with creativity in both drawing and creating sounds.  Spend some time with your child exploring some age appropriate drum fun. Try out different types of 'drums' to see how the sounds are different. Try different types of material as the drum stick. Have fun exploring these differences and learning together.

This is not only a great way to CREATE and CAPTURE Memories, but it will get your Pre-K kids off to a great start academically. Research clearly shows that music and rhythm and beat help kids be more successful with their studies.

Community Engagement Adventure

SUPERAchievers are going to want to take this whole drum experience to the next level!

Organize a group of family and friends to get together for you very own drum circle!  Whether you use drums you already have, or you build your own using some of the ideas listed in the Basic Adventures, get together and explore the wonderful world of drumming!

Teen Adventure
