Family Adventure

Learning about your past, and the history of where you live, is an important part of understanding your community and yourself. In this 'Out & About' Adventure you will take some time to explore the past with artifacts, photos and histories of those who settled Cache Valley. Visit the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum located at 160 North Main in Logan. You can get the hours they are open below.

For the home-based portion of the Adventure you can do a little exploration of your own family history. Here are some ideas to help you get going:

• Pull out the family picture albums and browse through pictures of the past.
• Ask your parents and/or grandparents questions about when they were younger. Here are a few questions to get you going:
  • What did you like to do when you were my age? (ask about different ages as well)
  • What was your hobby when you were growing up?
  • What was school like for you?
  • How did you and ____ (your spouse) meet?
  • What do you know now that you wish you had known back then?
  • What would you do differently if you could?
• Go to FamilySearch.org and explore your family tree.

Pre-K Adventure

Little ones will love a visit to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers museum to explore stories and pictures and artifacts from the past. Be sure to create a tie between them and what they see as much as possible by sharing stories about their ancestors or memories you have of the people in your family line that might have used these items.

Community Engagement Adventure

SUPERAchievers will want to go the extra mile and compile some of the information they learned either in a hard copy format or an online format.  Here are some ideas for you:

• Draw pictures that represent what you learned and put it together in a family art album. Invite other family members to contribute to your book.
• Write a series of short stories based on your family history. This could even be done in a blog that you can invite other family members to read, or participate if they want!
• Write a short play about people you learned about and invite your siblings, cousins, or friends to help you put it on for your parents and their siblings.
• Write a song about one story from your past that really impacted you.
