Family Adventure

This Adventure is all about becoming a ParkPassport Junior Ranger - Explore. Learn. Protect.

with Blue Star Families and the National Park Trust!

The great outdoors are never far from your front door with Blue Star Parks. The National Park Trust and Blue Star Families have created the ParkPassport app with the goal of allowing families and individuals to find parks, get outside and discover the power the outdoors has on quality of life. Create an account, find local, regional, state and national parks, earn badges for parks visited and outdoor recreational activities completed, and connect with other park enthusiasts and families across the country.  Families can also take virtual visits to select parks across the country.

The ParkPassport app can be downloaded for FREE from the Apple Store or Google Play Store.  Download the app today to start searching for your next National Park Adventure whether in-person or online.

** Military and Veteran Families who download and register the ParkPassport app will receive a FREE Buddy Bison plush toy.  Must indicate military or veteran status and provide a valid email address.  Plush information will be emailed within 2 weeks of registration**

Be a Junior Ranger - the Junior Ranger motto is recited by children around the country; each taking an oath of their own to protect parks, continue to learn about parks, and share their own ranger story with friends and family. This activity-based program is conducted in almost all parks, and some Junior Ranger programs are national. Many national parks offer young visitors the opportunity to join the National Park Service "family" as Junior Rangers.

Youth can complete a series of activities during a park visit, share answers with a park ranger, and receive an official Junior Ranger patch and certificate. The typical age is 5 to 13, but people of all ages can participate.

There are many parks that offer a virtual Junior Park Ranger Program that can be completed online. Check out the ‘Virtual Visits” tab of the ParkPassport App to search for available parks across the country who offer these virtual opportunities.

There are many activities and tours that can be completed online. Check out this link for specifics about each of the National Parks.

Blue Star Families, founded by military spouses in 2009 to empower military families to thrive as they serve, is committed to strengthening military families by connecting them with their neighbors – individuals and organizations – to create vibrant communities of mutual support. They believe we're all stronger when we take care of one another.  With the help of neighbors across the country, Blue Star Families is overcoming the isolation and alienation of frequent moves, deployments, and reduced support from the government. Innovative programs solve specific challenges for military families, including fighting economic insecurity with resources that foster spouse career development, creating family strength with rich family programming, and providing critical peer support for caregivers, whose numbers are only increasing.   Blue Star Families ensure that American military families can always feel connected, supported and empowered to thrive.
